Smash Bros. for Wii U hit shelves last Friday in the U.S., and Nintendo made a proud announcement today regarding sales of the highly anticipated title.
“Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is now the fastest-selling Wii U title ever in the U.S. market (dethroning Mario Kart 8), with more than 490,000 physical and digital units combined sold during the three-day period of Nov. 21 through Nov. 23.”
The title has sold almost half a million copies in the U.S. alone, in only three days. Honestly, this isn’t surprising news; though, what may be a little surprising to some is that the title has already surpassed the incredible initial sales of the other big title released earlier this year, Mariokart 8. The next question to follow is “How many Wii U consoles were moved out due to the title?”
It’s only been a few days, so we can’t jump to conclusions yet. We can, however, see that the title is very popular and the release of a handheld version doesn’t seem to have hindered sales for the console counterpart.
