Nintendo is hosting quite the colorful event on May 15, 2015. Splatoon, the upcoming Wii U exclusive, looks to be very promising; players splatter ink all over the map – and other players – in order to win matches. The game also features other online gaming modes, as well as a single player mode.
Nintendo is really pushing this title, possibly to be another popular Nintendo IP like Mario Kart 8. Coincidence that the game is releasing almost exactly a year later from when the sales monster, Mario Kart 8, released? I think not.
To celebrate the approaching May 29 launch date, Nintendo is holding a special “ink-tastic” event in Santa Monica, CA to promote the title. Celebrities like Joey Bragg from Disney’s “Liv and Maddie” will be be part of teams attempting to survive the ink-filled obstacle course that will be set up. Of course, you are more than welcome to go spectate, witnessing the various celebrities splatter each other in order to be crowned the kings and queens of Splatoon. In addition to the live obstacle course, visitors will have the chance to actually play the “Turf Wars” mode in Splatoon before the game releases later in the month.
The “Splatoon Mess Event” will be held on the Santa Monica Pier, the traditional end of historic Route 66, from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m.
