Nintendo has made select titles available for pre-order, via their website: just view an upcoming title and you have the option to pre-order digitally. What does this mean? For one, you can have a game download onto your console the day it is released (at midnight, most likely) without having to think about it. This could also be a precursor to what other manufacturers are doing: pre-downloading. This is a solid step for Nintendo.
In addition, consumers can now gift games to others, which has been a desired feature for some time now. This is also a good step for the company to make. Now, all we need is a web-based eShop to arrive, which will hopefully be coming soon.
